My name is Raza Nowrozy, I am a cybersecurity professional and currently employed as The Head of Cybersecurity at Untapped Holdings. I held my Masters in Cybersecurity and is currently pursuing my PhD researching the use of Blockchain Technology for Australian Health Records (MHR).

I have over 15 years of work experience in cybersecurity, network security and systems administration. My background is in computer science, and I consider myself an advocate of Information Technology hence my interest to become a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MST).

In addition to my university qualifications, I am holding a few industry certifications such as being a certified IP3P, ACS CP, AWS, CISM, CDPSE, CISO and an Australian Computer Society (ACS) Certified Cyber Security professional.

Please tell us about your current role

Currently, I am the Head of Cyber Security at Untapped Holdings and concurrently leading a team of talented neurodivergent employees at one of the largest companies in Australia.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

As The Head of Cyber Security, I am responsible for the operations of cybersecurity specialism of Untapped Holdings by providing strategic direction and driving companies’ performance to build the capability required to ensure the security of new and existing services of our company and our employees. As a cybersecurity team lead, I work with adult Autistic trainees to teach them the techniques and technical knowledge that they need to protect a network against cyberattacks based on the client’s technical requirements

What do you love about working in Cyber Security?

As a Cyber Security professional and Technology Trainer, I love to educate others about Cybersecurity awareness and defence because the world of cybercrime and cybersecurity is constantly evolving. Staying ahead of cyber criminals is a significant part of the job which I like the most as I feel good knowing I am helping to protect peoples’ livelihoods and privacy.

What advice would you give to new students just starting out?

I would like to encourage starting students to consider building a career in Cybersecurity as it is the right time to enter the industry because currently due to the Cyber skills shortage, there is a high demand for professionals with security knowledge. Also based on my experience, Cybersecurity is an evergreen industry which recognised globally. Cybersecurity is a career that serves the greater good with the chance to work with secret agencies. Most of all No Math required!
