STUDENT PEER SUPPORT PROGRAM

The development and ongoing support of an active Student Mentoring Program remains a key priority for AAPoly to assist new students with first year transition, providing opportunities for improved engagement not only in studies but in campus life and the wider community.

AAPoly focuses on a number of initiatives for new and continuing students, including working with a group of mentors to develop peer assisted study programs and support sessions. The peer assisted study programs consist of small-group learning sessions where continuing students guide first year undergraduates who may need additional support. These programs are a great way to connect students with other students studying the same subjects and/or course.

Student Mentors also help new students settle in and offer a student’s perspective on Melbourne and college life. They design after-hours fun social programs so that new students meet others and experience what Melbourne has to offer. Events include games and pizza nights, movie nights and day trips to areas outside the city, such as beaches and tourist sites.
