ABOUT AAPOLY

Academies Australasia Polytechnic Pty Limited was established in 2002 (initially named Auston Ventures Pty Ltd, then Auston Melbourne Pty Ltd, and then AMI Education Pty Ltd) (AMI), initially offering courses in English language and vocational education. AMI then delivered Bachelor and Master degrees on behalf of the University of Ballarat (now Federation University).

In 2010, AMI was approved as a non-self-accrediting Higher Education Provider (PRV12112) and started with one higher education degree – the Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management (BTHM).
In 2011, the majority interest in AMI was acquired by Academies Australasia Group Limited (AKG) (then called Garratt’s Limited).

AKG is comprised of 18 separately licensed colleges, all wholly owned by AKG. AKG has been operating for 118 years and has been listed on the Australian Securities Exchange for 48 years. Together, the colleges offer 160 courses, from non-award courses to Bachelor and Master degrees. AKG colleges also operate VET and ELICOS colleges and a senior high school.

In 2012, AKG acquired the remaining shares to make AMI a wholly owned subsidiary of AKG (see AKG chart). Following this, the AMI name was changed to Academies Australasia Polytechnic Pty Limited (AAPoly).
From 2017, AAPoly has also offered the Bachelor of Business (Leadership and Management). At the beginning of 2020, AAPoly was re-registered as an approved Higher Education Provider by TEQSA for a further seven years. On 1 July 2021, TEQSA made a decision, under section 38 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), to change AAPoly provider category from Higher Education Provider to Institute of Higher Education.

Under the control of AKG, AAPoly’s higher education courses have expanded from one Bachelor to six Bachelor and one Master degrees.

AAPoly delivers its higher education courses to international students (CRICOS Provider 02439G) in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
